The Brown Condor – የኢትዮጵያ ቡናማው ጆፌ
John Charles Robinson, the Brown Condor, was an African-American aviator who became Ethiopia's Air Commander during the Second Italo-Ethiopian War, symbolizing Pan-African solidarity.
Nicknamed “የኢትዮጵያ ቡናማው ጆፌ” (Ethiopia’s Brown Condor), Robinson trained pilots, flew reconnaissance missions, and helped build Ethiopia’s air force. His skill and courage earned admiration in Ethiopia and abroad. He was one of the first Black military aviators to serve a foreign army.
Robinson’s legacy goes beyond aviation. He shows the power of unity, resistance against colonialism, and the fight for freedom across continents. His story still inspires pilots, historians, and freedom fighters.
This site honors his contributions and keeps alive the memory of a man who crossed borders to defend justice and dignity.
